Take one look at David Bach and you know he's a character. Nicknamed "Gunslinger", Bach wears two signature items at the table: a black rebel Stetson-style hat and a psychedelic, bright green and purple shirt emitting the image of Jim Morison's 'The Doors'. It's surprising then that he carried himself in such a calm and laid back way.

Bach gives most of the credit for his very solid career as professional poker player to his father, "My dad is a doctor." He told me, adding that despite the gap in their professional choices, the two are very close. "He taught me most of what I know about poker."

Bach's father is providing the incentive coming into today's play. The elder Bach needs a kidney but can't get it through insurance. "I want to use my winnings to get him on the list, to buy him a kidney" taking a moment to be serious in what would otherwise be a time for jubilation. It's a noble sentiment that has me cheering for the unknown coming into the day's play.
