Dave Cloutier considers himself a regular guy with a regular life. He is the CEO of a company that manufactures electric heaters, process controls, and temperature sensors. He has worked at the company for all his years of employment thus far and will continue in that direction. Playing cards is something that has always been a part of his life as a hobby and a fun activity to do with the family, but that would change a bit in October of 2007.

Dave grew up playing various card games with his family and always seemed to have a knack for it. Throughout his years, he enjoyed casino games like baccarat but didn’t give poker much attention until a friend mentioned that it would be more profitable than what he had been doing. He went to an underground game and played his first seven-card stud poker game in 20 years, but did well and made the final table. It was that experience that made him decide to put more effort into poker and possibly find more success there.

At the same time, Dave discovered Texas hold’em. While work keeps him from frequenting the casinos in Canada too often, he went to the Fallsview with a friend in October of 2007. They decided to play some satellites, where Dave did well but still had no intention of playing in the WPT tournament. He ended up winning two satellites, playing in the tournament, and making it all the way to the final table. He ultimately finished in third for a payday of more than $385,000. And after the amazing feat, he went back to work and the life that he enjoys. But it never hurts to put a few hundred thousand dollars in your bank account and have a great time doing it.
