David Oppenheim was born in sunny Los Angeles, California. He started playing poker professionally when he was 19 years old and in his second year of college. A year later, he was playing $300-$600 limit games. When he's not playing poker or spending time with his wife and three kids, Oppenheim enjoys playing golf, reading and traveling. His favorite food is raw oysters.

Today, Oppenheim plays cash games four days a week. He's a regular at some of the biggest cash games in the world. Oppenheim has only recently started playing the bigger tournaments. He says tournament game play doesn't faze him, but he says he'd still "be very excited to win first."

During the first season of the World Poker Tour, Oppenheim cashed at a preliminary event at the L.A. Poker Classic. He went out third in a Limit Seven Card Stud event, winning more than $36,000. In 2003, he made a bigger mark on the WPT. He played in the No-Limit Hold 'em Championship at the Borgata Poker Open in Atlantic City. Oppenheim didn't place first as he'd hoped, but he came pretty close. He placed third, winning more than $117,000. His lifetime tournament winnings exceed $315,000.
