Davidson Matthew was born in Antigua but spent most of his life in Canada. After his education, he worked as an airline maintenance technician and sold ATM machines to convenience stores. He was a loyal and hard worker and dedicated himself to whatever job paid the bills. Well into his forties, he discovered his passion for poker during a trip to Las Vegas with his wife to celebrate their wedding anniversary. He began playing small stakes and fell in love with the game.
In 2005, David began cashing in tournaments " significant cashes. He placed second at a Bellagio tournament, turning his $1000 buy-in into a $25,000 payday. He also won several super satellites to gain entry into major tournaments. In order to hone his skills a bit, he began to play online from his home in Canada, while still maintaining his day job. Travel to tournaments was infrequent due to his work schedule, so Internet poker provided an opportunity to win satellites from his home.
That is exactly what he did. In 2006, David won a $25 satellite and parlayed it into a seat at the World Poker Tour's $25,000 main event " the WPT World Championship at the Bellagio. Battling his way through the immense field for stakes beyond his wildest dreams, he found himself at the televised final table. In the end, it was a heads-up battle against Joe Bartholdi, and David finally took second place for a whopping $1.9 million. Since that time, he has been seen regularly at WSOP tournaments, coming close to another TV appearance with a tenth place finish at the 2007 Borgata Poker Open but continuing to pursue a victory that will allow him to show the poker world that he is one of the best.
