An economics student turned poker pro, Dmitry Gromov has been on an international tear since the summer of 2010. First, Gromov won the Venetian Deep Stack Main Event in the summer of 2010 and pocketed over $315,000. Then he followed that up with a victory a little closer to home when the Russian picked up a Russian Poker Tour title at the Grand Final of the tour in Kiev, Ukraine. That win added another $200,000 to his bankroll, but his next win had more than just money on the line.

Gromov got to be a part of WPT history as he took down WPT Vienna in front of a live internet audience. The bold televised poker experiment included commentary from Jesse May and Mike Sexton, live action complete with hole cards, and some impressive poker from Gromov that left the usually loquacious May literally speechless. Gromov’s bold and exceptional play paid off in the form of €447,840 and a WPT title.

Despite only two years on the circuit, Gromov has already racked up nearly $1.5 million in tournament earnings and cashes in nine different countries.
