In some circles, it might be fair to call Erick "E-Dog" Lindgren a jock. After all, before he settled comfortably into the role of one of poker's biggest superstars, Lindgren passed his time on the basketball court and football field. They were both places where Lindgren's innate need for competition could be sated. Regardless, anyone who has ever sat across from the man with the quarterback shoulders and boyish grin knows he is more than the guy who escorts the homecoming queen to the dance. He's turned himself from a small-town quarterback and son of a tire shop owner into one of the world's most successful poker players.
Lindgren found poker during his time at the only regular job he ever held. He worked his way up from dealing blackjack to playing as a prop player in a California card room. It wasn't long before his competitive streak kicked in. He wanted to play for real and play for real he did. Within just a few years, Lindgren had worked his way up to playing on poker's world stage. Before the end of the second season of the World Poker Tour, Lindgren had made three televised final tables and won two events for more than $1.5 million.
Featured as one of the World Poker Tour's Young Guns of poker, Lindgren went on to prove his poker success was no youthful whim. He has since gone on to win more than $5 million on the tournament circuit, including winning $800,000 in the $100,000 buy-in no-limit hold'em tournament at the 2007 Aussie Millions. Lindgren has yet to win a World Series of Poker bracelet, but with two WPT titles and millions of dollars in his bankroll, he seems to be doing just fine, no matter how competitive he is.
