Grant Helling lives a life of adrenaline and electricity. The one-time repo man was born in Korea before moving to America and eventually settling down in the Chicago suburbs. There, he turned himself into more than smooth-talking legal car thief. As an electrical contractor, he spends most of his days toying with amps and volts. The life of a self-employed contractor is full of responsibilities. It also allows for certain freedoms that the average working man doesn't have. That's how Helling ended up playing poker.

After owning his own business for a while, Helling discovered he could take care of most of his responsibilities early in the day. Once afternoon rolled around, he started working on his poker game. When his wife called, he'd tell the truth and tell her he was playing cards. It was something his wife understood. As long as Helling made it home soon enough to spend some quality time, she let him play cards. The freedom of owning his own business and having an understanding wife eventually led Helling all the way to the World Poker Tour.

In Season 3 of the WPT, Helling made the final table of the Legends of Poker main event in Los Angeles, California. His afternoon practice sessions of the past paid off. Helling finished in fourth place. For his efforts, he earned more than $170,000.
