Guy Laliberte was born in Quebec City, Quebec and struggled to find his way in life. He knew that he wasn't meant to study for years in school, so he took to street performing with his accordion at the age of 14. For ten years, he lived meagerly but had big dreams of traveling the world and turning his creative mind and good business sense into a form of entertainment. At the age of 24, he co-founded the now world-renowned Cirque du Soleil.

Guy's interest in poker began less than two years ago when he took his curiosity in games like backgammon and blackjack to a new level with poker. Being a competitive person and always seeking an intellectual challenge, he found the mathematics and people skills associated with poker to be intriguing. Through his business ventures with Bobby Baldwin, he became aware of the "Big Game" played in Bobby's Room at the Bellagio, and being the 664th richest man in the world according to Forbes Magazine, he had no problem footing the bill for the challenge. Several times a year, he played with the best players in the game like Greenstein, Negreanu, and Elezra.

In 2006, Guy decided to try his multi-talented hand at tournaments, and he won a super satellite into the WPT World Championship, though he failed to cash there. In 2007, he did the same thing and won his way to the WPT event, and this time his perseverance and top-notch poker education came into play and brought him to the final table. Guy outperformed hundreds of other players and showed himself that he could compete with the best in the field. Whether the future holds much poker for him remains to be seen, but it has been proven that he can do anything to which he puts his mind.
