During the five days leading to this one, Jacobo Fernandez caused more than a few eyes to roll. Fernandez is an idiosyncratic and deliberate player, wiping each finger with a napkin and taking a few minutes every time he had any kind of decision. This earned my nicknaming him Jacobo the Slow. Still, you can't argue with the results.

Early on day three, Fernandez tangled with JC Tran, doubling up and taking the chip lead. By the end of the day, he's relinquished it, but not by much. For the remainder of the tournament, he stayed near the leaders, and he enters the final table with T3,370,000, just T100,000 less than the leader, Tran.

Hailing from Santiago in the Dominican Republic, Fernandez has daughters and sons and his girlfriend supporting him all through this. A professional player by trade back home, he now has a chance to become recognized by the American public. Of course, if he does, we may go over or usual taping time.
