Jake Minter is among those precious few people in poker who have no desire to be a star. The amount of literature about his background could be written on a cocktail napkin. Nonetheless, people know who Minter is and they know when he's not playing sports, enjoying music, or traveling, it's best to avoid him at the poker table.

Known for his quiet, peaceful demeanor at the table, Miter has established a reputation as one of poker's most stoic players. He takes a win the same way he takes a beat. An opponent will always be on the receiving end of a nod of the head, perhaps a tip of the cap, and a handshake if necessary. Minter played in some of Las Vegas' biggest stakes cash games for a decade before finding a real stride in tournament poker.

Minter came into his own as a tournament player in 2005 when he made the final table of the WPT Season 4 Legends of Poker main event. The $333,000 he won that night is, to this day, his biggest tournament cash. That doesn't mean, however, he hasn't continued to succeed. In 2007, he placed 14th in the WPT World Championship, winning more than $150,000.
