Jeff Shulman is the son of CardPlayer magazine owner, Barry Shulman. The two of them have taken the publication from a casino handout to the top industry magazine in just a few years, and they haven't done too poorly at the poker tables either. Jeff was born in Seattle, Washington. He is a graduate of University of Washington and a former real estate investor.

Jeff says he's been playing poker since the third grade. He practiced his skills on his friends at summer camp. Jeff says his father didn't exactly encourage him to play poker, but he certainly gave him a lot of advice on his game. Jeff moved to Las Vegas in the late 90s, not to play poker professionally, but to help his father with CardPlayer. The pair worked together and played poker together recreationally. Jeff has had quite a bit of success at his hobby. He finished 7th in the main event of the 2000 World Series of Poker.

Over the years, he's cashed at the WSOP ten times. He's also finished in the money of seven World Poker Tour events. His primary focus these days is on growing CardPlayer's readership, both in print and online, but Jeff still makes time for playing poker. He's won more than a million dollars in live poker tournaments.
