John Gale was born and raised near London, England. He was never much for school and quit his education to work retail jobs, eventually landing in the field of management consultancy where he remained for the rest of his professional business career. He eventually started his own firm and specialized in assisting corporations with the IPO process when going public on the stock market. Besides being a successful businessman, family was extremely important; his wife and four children have been his top priority through it all.
Poker was a hobby for John throughout his years, playing at the local casinos, and in his 50's, he decided to try online poker. He was successful enough to have won his seat into the WPT PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in 2005, and he burst onto the tournament poker scene there by winning the entire tournament for nearly $900,000 and a WPT title. A few months later, he traveled to Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker and placed second in the $5000 pot-limit hold'em event for more than $200,000, not to mention that he cashed in three other events at that year's WSOP.
With big wins and a knack for tournament poker, John convinced his wife that professional poker was his next step in life, and though she wasn't fond of the idea, she accepted his decision because it made him happy. From there, he began traveling the world, and the rest of the poker world took notice of his numerous tournament cashes. In 2006, he won his first WSOP bracelet in the $2500 pot-limit hold'em event, and in early 2007, he returned to a WPT final table at the Borgata Poker Classic to take home the third place prize. John is now a regular on the tournament circuit and in Las Vegas poker rooms, and he is not only recognized for his poker abilities " with over $2 million to back that up " but for his calm, friendly demeanor at the tables; thus, he is called Gentleman John Gale.
