Jon James Jr. is a native New Englander who has played poker for over a decade, learning at a young age from his father. Craving competition through games, he played professional billiards for a number of years in addition to playing poker. Though he attempted several conventional jobs in the marketing and credit counseling fields, gaming continues to draw him back.

Jon's goal is to be a professional poker player, and with the support of friends and family, he has been working hard toward that goal. Though cash games in Atlantic City seem to be his mainstay, tournament poker may be in his future.

At the age of 27, Jon made his first final table - a WPT TV table at that - and played an intense game to get there and survive the 571-person field. Though he finished in sixth place, he took home over $275,000, which is a generous addition to any bankroll and a gem to have on the poker resume. Whether he makes a career on the tournament circuit or continues with the cash game route remains to be seen, but a WPT final table appearance is a good way to begin either.
