When discussing the early days of his poker career, Kevin talks about being a single guy who ran a card game, tended bar and lived accordingly. But with the birth of his daughter Jennifer, the young poker phenom decided to give up the game and take on the tougher career of single parenting. A choice which he says has led him to a fuller and more successful life. O'Donnell and his daughter Jennifer left their home in California after her second birthday without anything. He worked in restaurants in Hawaii for several years before he decided to relocate his small family to Scottsdale, Arizona. With his daughter in college, O'Donnell headed back to the game that he showed such a knack for. He's been able to hone his already patient game and take advantage of situations on the felt that other people didn't. He picks up unwanted pots here and there adds to his chip stack that he wields very carefully in later stages of the game. Jennifer's recent independence has allowed Kevin to realize some dreams of travel and promises of playing in a WSOP tournament with an old buddy. O'Donnell's experience in the game has taken him into circles with some of the world's top competitors. In the last few years, Kevin has had some tremendous success at the tables. In August of 2005 Kevin made the final table at the World Poker Tour Legends of Poker winning over $200,000. In July of 2006 he won $105,232 at the WSOP No Limit Hold'em event and $72,648 at the Pot Limit Omaha event. Kevin made a second trip to the final table of the World Poker Tour's Legends of Poker tournament in August of 2006, winning $226,260 in fourth place. He also placed ninth in a Pot Limit Omaha event at the Aussie Millions and seventeenth at the World Poker Tour's LA Poker Classic. A true competitor by nature, this restaurateur has had a whiff of ultimate poker success, and it will be tough to keep him out of the kitchen. All he has to do is bring to the table what has made him a success in life. O'Dell says, "I've been fortunate to have the success I had. I'm happy with where I am. My real goal is to win a World Poker Tournament."
