Born and raised in Australia, Marsha Waggoner played cards for fun but never could have known the significant role they would play in her life. As a young adult, while looking for ways to support her family, she was encouraged to take a job as a blackjack dealer at a casino in Sydney, which she did. On her nights off, she discovered that the cash poker games were lucrative and provided some extra cash for her family. For years, she made most of her money as a cash game player. During a trip to Las Vegas in the 1980's, Marsha was impressed by the poker scene there and after some thought, she moved her three children to the United States. After short stints in Vegas and Reno, she soon discovered the beauty of Southern California and the card rooms there. Upon settling in the Los Angeles area, she spent years making money as a professional poker player before giving poker tournaments a chance. When she did, she immediate cashed in an event in Los Angeles " second place for $27,540, and the tournament circuit had her hooked. Marsha eventually took a job as the casino host at Hollywood Park Casino, which is where she met her now husband, Kenna James, who was an up-and-coming pro at the time. From her job, continued success at cash games, and much tournament success, she has supported her three children and five grandchildren well. She has also become a well-recognized pro due to the popularity of poker and her numerous appearances on televised poker shows. While a championship title eludes this long-time pro, she has had many final table showings at the World Series of Poker, World Poker Tour, and Professional Poker Tour. Most notably, she finished in second at the PPT Bay 101 Shooting Stars event and third at the 2005 Legends of Poker Ladies Night tournament.
