Michael Benedetto was born in New York City. He is now the Executive Vice President and owner of Tidewater Fibre Corporation, a renowned recycling and waste management company in Chesapeake, Virginia. Benedetto's family started the company in 1973, and now it recycles about one million pounds of paper and other goods every day. When he's not busy running the family business, Benedetto enjoys traveling, running and the music of Frank Sinatra. Benedetto is a relative newcomer to the poker world. He's been known to wear a pair of holographic sunglasses that make him look cross-eyed at the poker table. He's been described as an aggressive player, seemingly unfazed by the big names in poker. Benedetto qualified for his first major tournament in a $70 satellite. He had been playing poker for less than a year. He almost missed his chance, though. Family obligations nearly kept him off the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure cruise during the second season of the World Poker Tour, but Benedetto worked out the kinks. He turned that opportunity into a $132,000 payday when he placed fourth in the tournament. In 2006, he played in the No Limit Hold 'em Championship at the World Series of Poker. He didn't make it to the final table, but he went home with more than $26,000 anyway.
