In a sense poker players are collectors, they collect chips, final table appearances, and as many wins as they can. What's more, they use their collections to build their poker bankrolls. Michael Higgins made his first live poker tournament final table on the World Poker Tour. Before that, he was a collector of a different kind. The Ohio State University student built his poker bankroll by collecting things people wanted and then selling them online. "When I was little I started collecting things like Beanie Babies and Pokemon cards, and then I sold them on eBay," Higgins said. "That gave me a decent enough bankroll to start playing poker." While Higgins has had some tournament success, he considers himself more of a cash game player than tournament professional. "In tournaments, you can't let anything bad happen to you," Higgins said. In cash games, if it happens, you just re-buy in. In a tournament you are out." Still, Higgins has shown he has the poker chips to collect at least one WPT final table appearance. Regardless of how the rest of his poker life turns out, he already has one priceless item in his collection.
