Mike Keohan is a man of mystery. He knows a lot about computers, dabbles in the world of filmmaking, and plays as much poker as he can. However, beyond that, learning much about him is not the easiest of tasks. Even his name is a bit of a mystery. Most people mispronounce it. Turns out, the Boston-born resident of California is okay with the mystery. He likes it. As for the pronunciation of his last name, "It rhymes with rain," he says. Guarded about his early life, Keohan says he started playing poker in the early 1990s when Foxwoods Resort and Casino opened near his native Boston. He first won a poker tournament a few years later in Atlantic's City's Taj Mahal. From the moment forward, he was hooked. If he could've, he would've quit his job as a software consultant, played poker for a living, and used all his money to finance the gritty crime dramas he wrote on the side. In Season 2 of the World Poker Tour, Keohan had his first shot at the big time. He made the final table of the L.A. Poker Classic and placed third. That one tournament earned Keohan nearly $360,000. That same year, Keohan has made the final two tables of World Poker Tour events, once in Aruba and once at Foxwoods. That year, 2002, proved to be Keohan's best yet. Since then, he has cashed several times in poker tournaments around America.
