Michael Perry is a native of Oakland, Maine, and an electrical contractor who owns his own business. He is married and has three small children, one girl and two boys. He got interested in playing poker by watching the World Poker Tour events on television and started playing online in his spare time after the wife and kids were in bed. He also plays in some home games with friends and enjoys Omaha hi/lo as a relief from Hold'em. Perry has made the journey to Foxwoods Resort and Casino twice a year for the last five or six years, playing in tournaments in the spring and fall. His wife is very supportive and he limits his time in the casino to these vacation adventures. Mike feels that watching the professional poker players on the World Poker Tour has sharpened his game, since he compares what actions he would take to their play. He said that when he sees that he's matched their winning plays, it builds his confidence in his game. Mike really analyzes the whole table and the individual he's up against in a hand, considering the hands they play and trying to understanding their position on their chip count. He's also trying to learn all the time, reading some poker books and online articles and blogs. He has a lot of respect for players like Phil Ivey, Kathy Liebert and Nenad Medic. But maybe fate plays a great part in Mike's game since the thing that seems to be important to him before he plays is a good luck kiss from his wife.
