There was a time in Mikael Westerlund's life when all he did was sell. A divorced father with, in his words, "a lot of kids," Westerlund spent most of his time working as a salesman in Gothenberg, Sweden. Selling all day made him long for something else. He wanted to give up selling and start collecting. And that he did. He started collecting poker chips and tournament wins. He'd been playing poker his entire life when his erratic play started netting him some results. He started making final tables one after another. Like any smart poker player, Westerlund played the rush. In 2005, he noticed the World Poker Tour was about to host an event in the Bahamas. It was winter and freezing in Sweden. Westerlund headed for warmer climates and packed his rush for the trip. The rush survived the transcontinental trip just fine. Westlerlund made the final table of the WPT Caribbean Adventure, placed third, and won more than $300,000. Two weeks later, he headed to Copenhagen, Denmark and made the final table of the European Poker Tour Scandinavian Open. When the rush finally subsided, Westerlund had made eight final tables in a row. Now, Westerlund spends his days on the professional poker circuit in both Europe and the United States.
