When you're from out of town, sometimes you end up in places you don't expect. Mohammed Ibrahim was from out of town, way out of town. Born in Egypt, Ibrahim left Africa in 1982 and moved to the United States. Beyond his love for music and good food, Ibrahim is also athletic. It was the need for working up a good sweat that send Ibrahim to L.A.'s Bicycle Club looking for a place to ride. Little did he know, his trip to the famed card room would end up taking him on the ride of his life. After playing poker for six years, Ibrahim turned himself into a tournament pro and played on the circuit for three years. Then he jumped into the high-limit cash games where he flourished. Still, at the turn of the century, tournament poker was getting too rich to ignore and Ibrahim returned to his tournament roots. It was a move that would eventually serve him well. His first major score came in 2003 when he won a World Series of Poker bracelet at nearly $300,000. While more impressive than many players' results, Ibrahim wasn't satisfied. Later that year, Ibrahim went to the World Poker Tour's World Poker Finals and made it all the way to second place, a cash that earned him more than half a million dollars. Ibrahim now has a million dollars in live tournament winnings in his career to supplement his untold winning sin the cash games.
