Nick Cassavetes was born in New York, NY into a famous family. His mother Gena Rowlands and father John Cassavetes were both well-respected and renowned actors, and he naturally found that his own talents followed in their footsteps. He first became an actor, then a writer, producer, and director who has such films as "Alpha Dog" and "The Notebook" to his credit. Having played poker for many years in home games, Nick also sometimes plays in cash games at the various Los Angeles area card rooms. In 2005, he made his foray into tournament poker and finished in 93rd place in the World Series of Poker No-Limit Hold'em main event. Since then, he has made an effort to play in tournaments whenever his busy work schedule permits. And he has proven that he has the skills to do well, as he came in second place in the 2006 Sport of Kings $3000 main event. Nick has also made his mark on the World Poker Tour. In 2006, he came in 65th place at the WPT Festa al Lago main event at Bellagio. And in 2007, he showed his true abilities when he beat a field of amateurs and pros alike to make it to the WPT Celebrity Invitational tournament's final table. Since he seems to be quite the poker connoisseur, no one should be surprised to see him at more final tables in the future.
