Per Ummer spent most of his life in Sweden where he was born and raised, though he now lives in Cypress. He keeps very mum about his private life except that his career involved work as a software developer, and his familiarity with the Internet was how he became acquainted with the world of online poker. His once limited knowledge of poker increased quickly as he played more of the game online, finally feeling comfortable enough with his skills to make his foray into the casinos for live cash game play. Once at the table, Per's quiet demeanor kept his opponents from realizing what a true grasp of the game he had, so success came easily for him. He craved the challenge of tournament poker, though, so in 2004, he made another leap, this time to the Barcelona Open where he cashed in one of the preliminary, smaller buy-in events. By the next year, he had worked his way up the skill ladder and played in the $25,000 buy-in Monte Carlo Millions and placed 44th. Per finally made the trip to the United States to play in the internationally-known L.A. Poker Classic in 2006. He participated in the World Poker Tour's main event and ended up making it to the final table, cashing out in sixth place for an amount just shy of $200,000. He has cashed in several other tournaments since that time, including a 2007 World Series of Poker event. With a reputation now as a tough competitor among professional players, he continues to pursue his first big win.
