If you know your poker trivia, you likely know about the rough and tough Asian poker player from Houston, Texas who has made a name for himself in the world of huge stakes poker tournaments. That would be Johnny Chan, right? Well, it would, except for the fact that there is another impossibly good Asian player from Houston whose name is known across the poker realm. That's Quoc AL Vinh, better known As Vinnie. Though he may share a hometown with The Orient Express, Vinnie Vinh has made his own way around the poker circuit and done so with great success. Since 2001, Vinh, known for his trademark "Vinnie Vinh!" scream, has put together a string of tournament cashes that most pros would envy. A familiar face in most of the Southern California poker rooms, Vinh seems to have tapped into some sort of tournament success secret. He doesn't limit himself to $10,000 buy-in events and has managed to collect millions in winnings with mid-five figure cashes every few months. It's not been enough to make him a TV star yet, but it's turned him into a serious player who likely will never have to worry about finding a day job. Vinh's breakout tournament (the day he started winning six figures instead of five) was the day he took second place in the L.A Poker Classic. That 2004 cash for more than $700,000 cemented Vinh's place in poker. Since then, Vinh has continued to post six-figure wins, including his 2005 World Series of Poker Circuit win in Indiana for more than $430,000.
