For R.A. Head, it all began with a fishing trip gone astray. He was 12 years old when his brother took him along with a line and a pole and headed for the fishing hole. Along the way, something pulled them in another direction. That something was a poker game. From there, Head spent more time heading for the fish at the tables than the fish in the pond. Everybody calls him R.A. It doesn't matter what his mom actually named him. His goes by his initials and as far as anybody else is concerned, the letters stand for "Ready for Action." Hailing from Florida, this septuagenarian gets around more than your average retiree. From Vegas, to Mississippi, to Costa Rica, the man known as R.A. has seen it all in his day. He likes to think of himself as a rattlesnake, and if you're not careful, he will bite you. With seven big tournament cashes to his name, Head grew most famous for his appearance during the first season of the World Poker Tour. A trip to Costa Rica landed him at the final table of the Costa Rica Classic. He ended up finishing in sixth place, not only netting himself a little bit of money, but a place in poker history as one of the first-ever WPT final table players.
