Randy Jensen learned how to play poker when he was five years old and engaged in card games whenever the opportunities arose, even going so far as to run games in his junior high school. During his youth, he also helped his mother in her real estate business. Before his education was completed, he decided that his profit margin in poker and real estate was good enough to warrant quitting school and working full-time. In the 1990's, Randy became involved with a private poker club in Colorado, which is where he expanded his game repertoire to include pot-limit hold'em and other games. Bill Duarte taught him how to play at a truly competitive level. Randy traveled to Las Vegas in 1997 and made subsequent trips to California card rooms after that, and his cash game winnings began to soar. And by 2002, he would begin finding additional success on the poker tournament circuit. After claiming first prize of $83,085 in the limit hold'em event at the Jack Binion World Poker Open in Tunica that year, he cashed three more time in that same series " two of those being final tables. The poker world at large would become more aware of Randy when he encountered the World Poker Tour in January of 2004 at the World Poker Open. He played in the main event and sailed through the field of pro players all the way to the final table, finally making it all the way to second place for a payout of over $650,000. He also made a big splash on the Professional Poker Tour where he made the final table of the Mirage Poker Showdown, again cashing in second place. And he seems to be only beginning as he made a final table of a World Series of Poker event in 2007. The future is bright for this lifelong card player.
