Rick Casper has always been a hard worker. He grew up the son of blue collar parents in Oaklawn, Illinois. Casper says he had several paper routes from the time he was six years old. Since then, he's always been working, shoveling snow, mowing lawns, or selling homes. Casper says he started playing poker with his childhood friends. After high school, he moved to Las Vegas, where he is now a real estate agent. Casper says he likes action, and he's a better blackjack player than poker player. He says his mother's husband gave him a book on Seven-Card Stud when he first moved to Vegas, but he says he never really got anything going with that game. Then, he started playing Texas Hold 'em, but he says he tried to play too many pots at first. Casper says he really got into poker when an online poker site started up. He says some friends of his were involved, and he started playing for free to help get the software started up. He says he soon began playing online a few times a week. Before he made the final table of the UltimateBet Poker Classic in Season Two of the World Poker Tour, Casper says he had only played in one live poker tournament. Before that, his only real experience had been online. Casper won more than $43,000 for his sixth place finish in Aruba. Not bad for a man with very little live tournament experience. When he's not working or playing poker, Casper also enjoys playing golf and going to the gym.
