Ask most people and they'll tell you they learned to play poker around their Grandma's kitchen table or in some smoky college dorm room. Sharon Goldman learned to play poker the hard way. She had to go to the emergency room. A trip the hospital for what she thought was appendicitis turned out to take longer than she'd hoped. To pass the time, the boyfriend who would eventually become her husband broke out a deck of cards and taught her to play Texas Hold'em. Once she relocated to California, Goldman found poker everywhere. She ended up playing countless hours of low limit games around the west Coast card rooms. She carried the experience she picked up there on a trip to Australia for the Aussie Millions. Suddenly, she was in the world of pot-limit hold'em, and in heaven. Before long, Goldman was back in California and making final tables. Since then, Goldman has made the money in two World Poker Tour events and been invited to play on the first WPT Ladies Night Out broadcast. She stills lives in the L.A. area and continues to play poker professionally.
