A New Yorker by birth, Stacy Matuson didn't enter the world of poker full force until she moved to Hollywood, Florida. With local casinos thriving there, she looked at those who have been highly successful like Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi and knew that she had what it would take to do the same. She began taking her seat at the cash games and honed her skills during countless hours in the poker rooms. In September of 2004, Stacy traveled a bit south of Florida to the UltimateBet Poker Classic in Aruba. She had made the decision to play numerous tournaments, and it was a wise choice as three final tables would see this up-and-coming player vying for the titles. In both $500 no-limit hold'em preliminary events, she placed eighth and seventh respectively. And then she entered the $5,000 Ultimate Poker Classic " the World Poker Tour's main event. Stacy made the WPT final table as one of the few women to ever make a WPT televised table in an open event. She exited the tournament in sixth place for $100,000 but was happy with her success. She believes that her instincts as a mother help her read other players and make good decisions, and she continues to travel the tournament circuit when family obligations allow. She cashed in the 2006 L.A. Poker Classic and two of the 2007 Venetian Deep Stack tournaments.
