Steve Vincent is a Renaissance man who started playing poker the way most kids did in his native New York City. Back in the days when few people had even conceived of a poker tournament, Steve was playing cards on Gotham rooftops and shooting Craps under city lampposts. While he loved cards, entertainment was in his heart. Starting at the age of eight, Steve started working in the entertainment industry. What began as an opportunity in radio turned into stints on soap operas and some time on Broadway. From soap operas, he went on to study real opera. From there, he and a friend started their own film company. It was a hard knock life that finally, for lack of a reason not to, caused Steve to move to Las Vegas. In 1977, Steve moved to the Dunes and began working for poker legend Johnny Moss. It wouldn't be long before Steve had worked up and down The Strip in just about every facet of gaming. Still, his heart and expertise were in the entertainment industry. Steve, using contacts he'd made with his film company, eventually went on to form a successful video business. It ended up being the best move of his career, affording him the ability to eventually enjoy his retirement and play as much poker as he wanted. And play poker he did. Through his career and retirement, Steve played poker recreationally. He considered it to be no more than a fun pastime and never worked very hard, lest poker become another job. He never played big buy-in events. In fact, he'd lived 77 years of his life before he played in a major tournament, and then he only entered through the benefit of a satellite. His sixty years of playing cards finally paid off in the form of a WPT final table.
