A lot of people say that winning in poker means being able to forget about the true value of money. Steve Rassi is the counterpoint to that argument. Out of all the poker players on the World Poker Tour, Rassi may know more about the value of money than anybody else. A buyer and seller of rare coins, Rassi owns his own ship in Morton, Illinois, a mere ten miles from where he was born in Peoria. Rassi started playing poker in his teens. He would often stay up all night playing poker with his friends and end up sleeping through the first hour of school the next day. Although a source of enjoyment for him, poker did not become his life. Like golf, it was simple a hobby at which he was very good. While he went to Las Vegas many times a year to play, he didn't consider himself much more than an amateur when he made his first World Poker Tour final table. During Season 3 of the World Poker Tour, Rassi made the final table of the Five Diamond World Poker Classic at the Bellagio. Sitting alongside such greats as Daniel Negreanu and Humberto Brenes, Rassi placed fifth and won more than $217,000. While that was his biggest career win, Rassi has cashed in two more WPT events and made the final table of a World Series of Poker Circuit event. In his amateur poker career, Rassi has won more than half a million dollars.
