European poker legend Surinder Sunar was born in India. He moved to England at the age of seven, but he says he's always remained very close to his grandfather who stayed in Dhinpur Punjab, India. Surinder holds a black belt in karate, which he credits with helping him concentrate during often brutal, long hours of tournament poker play. Very few players can rival Surinder's durability, focus, and dedication to the game.
Surinder is able to play many different styles at the poker table. He can switch from tight to loose and passive to aggressive at the turn of a card. He's best known for his poker face. He shows no emotion and is calm in the most stressful situations. His career as a poker player has been so successful, he earned a spot in the European Poker Hall of Fame.
Surinder Sunar has racked up an impressive amount of tournament winnings. He's cashed in eleven World Poker Tour events. In Season Three of the WPT, Surinder won the Grand Prix de Paris at the Aviation Club. He took home more than $800,000 for his victory in that No-Limit Hold 'em event. During his career as a poker player, Surinder has won more than $3,000,000. He says he doesn't play many tournaments these days because of the extreme concentration required to win.
