Antanas Guoga was born in Kaunas, Lithuania but moved with his family to Australia when he was 11-years old. He learned the art of gaming in his early teens and took every opportunity to play a variety of games, including poker, with friends and family members, then took to casinos and card rooms when he was able to get through the doors. In his late teens, he found himself in Las Vegas attempting to use fake identification to enter casinos, as he brought a bankroll of several hundred thousand dollars with him, but upon entering the world of high-stakes poker found that he was not ready to compete at that level.
Tony left Vegas and moved to London, England for a time, playing lower limit games at the Victoria Casino and taking the time to move up in stakes more carefully. By 2001, he was averaging $7500 per month in cash games and decided to try his hand at tournaments. Within a year, the results were showing that he had the ability to compete at some of the biggest tournaments in Europe " Vienna, Paris " and in the United States. Now a world traveler to any place that provided good cash games and lucrative tournaments, he was becoming known as Tony G, the brash and confrontational player at the table who had skills to back up his words.
Tony's first major television appearance was in 2003 at the World Poker Tour's stop in Paris at the Euro Finals of Poker where he made the final table and placed fifth. The following year, he made a repeat showing at the final table at the Aviation Club de France, though this time he finished in second place for an impressive $414,478 cash. Further on the WPT circuit, he won the invitation-only Bad Boys of Poker II tournament in 2006. While he still chases the elusive WPT open tournament title and WSOP bracelet, his impact upon the poker world has been made, and he continues to play a larger role in the online poker industry as a businessman and pro poker player.
