Thang "Kido" Pham was born in Vietnam but moved to North America to make his home in the Lonestar State. He and his wife, a dentist, raise their family and operate a dental clinic in Dallas, Texas. Kido's wife was blissfully unaware that one of the "business trips" he took to Las Vegas was to play in a poker tournament.

Kido had an incredible run at that event and was the sole amateur to grind his way through a tough field of 312 players to make his first WPT final table at the inaugural Doyle Brunson North American Poker Championship - taking 2nd place and winning $496,400. Fortunately for Pham, the six-figure payout kept him out of trouble for playing hooky from the office. Kido donates a lot of his winnings to support research for autistic children - a cause near to his heart.

Kido likes to keep his opponents off guard and good naturedly provokes them, sometimes offering to fold or telling them he's crazy. But Pham is crazy like a fox. He doesn't play all the events he can because his family time is so critical to him, but he still has the respect of a lot of professional players who know to watch out for him when they do see him at the table. In 2005 Pham placed 4th at the World Poker Tour's Mirage Poker Showdown event and won $182, 964 playing No Limit Hold'em. And in 2006 he cashed in the World Poker Tour's Mirage Poker Showdown - playing in the preliminary Heads Up event and finishing 4th for $27,936.
