One place you don't except to find a poker champion is outside. Most of them spend their lives under fluorescent lights and in front of a poker table. Tom Lock took a different tack. He spent a career as a park ranger before retiring to Henderson, Nevada. With a career behind him, Lock needed something to do with his time. He quickly found a home indoors at the poker tables. The year 2005 turned out to be the one where the retiree found his stride. In July, he cashed in the World Series of Poker main event. In October, he cashed in the WPT Festa al Lago IV. Just a couple of months later, he won the Seniors event at the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic. Not only did he win more than $100,000, he also won a seat in the WPT Invitational in February 2006. In L.A., Lock sat down at the WPT Invitational and tore through the competition. He made it all the way to the final table. While it would not prove to be his biggest monetary cash, Lock's sixth place finish earned him a spot on the televised final table. Since then, Lock has continued to supplement his retirement with tournament winnings in the Las Vegas area.
