Thomas hails from Helsinki, Finland and is proud to continue to reside there when not traveling the tournament circuit. After a year in the Marines, which is mandatory service in Finland, he began a career in investment banking but soon became bored with the corporate world. When he started playing poker with friends on weekends in 2001, he found that he had a talent for the game and began mastering it. All the while, he spend much of his free time pursuing interests in scuba diving and skydiving, enjoying the calm of the former and the risk of the latter. Moreover, he found both of those qualities in poker, too. Eventually, his successes in poker enabled him to quit his banking job and play poker professionally at the beginning of 2006. While Thomas makes a living at cash games, tournament poker has grasped his attention in 2006. Friendships with poker pros Juha Helppi and Patrik Antonius, who encouraged him to attempt the tournament trail, helped his game immensely. His favorite game is pot limit Omaha, but he has discovered a versatility that allows him to play a number of games. As he continues to devote time to all aspects of poker, his skills keep improving to which his results are a testament. In a relatively short period of time, Thomas has received accolades from fellow players for his commitment to the game and aggressive, yet calm demeanor at the tables. He placed 10th at the Monte Carlo EPT event in March of 2006 for a $40,000 prize. He soon cashed at the 2006 WPT Championship and then went on to achieve a respectable eight place finish in the 2006 WSOP pot limit Omaha main event, then cashed in the WSOP main event. With numerous cashes under his belt, it's only a matter of time before Thomas finds himself in the winner's circle.
