Deutsche-born Ugur Marangoz is a poker player's poker player. In 1995, Marangoz headed to the capital of the poker world, Las Vegas, Nevada. He started poking his nose into the Mirage poker room and eventually turned into the room's manager. To keep in touch with his players' visions for the game he managed, Marangoz continued to play cash games and tournaments. Marangoz spent most of his time working around the tables instead of at them. Still, whatever time he spent playing or managing seemed to have done him well.

A trip to Los Angeles saw him cash for nearly $30,000 in the World Series of Poker circuit event. Just a few months later, he picked up another $20,000 at the L.A. Poker Classic in Season IV of the World Poker Tour. A few days later, he sat down in the WPT Celebrity Invitational and made it all the way to the final table where he placed sixth.
