Vince Burgio is a man of numbers and a man of words. This Kansas City, Missouri native is a professional poker player and a columnist for poker publications. He graduated from University of Missouri and then went to work for Boeing in Seattle. He's been living in California for more than 25 years now. Burgio is married and has four daughters and seven grandchildren. He says he learned to play poker as a child with his family during the holidays. His father was a poker player, so Burgio says he learned a lot by watching him. When he went into the service at 17 years old, he says he got a lot of practice playing the game, because, as he says, "there's always poker in the service." Burgio says the game came naturally for him, because he has a very economical mind.

Over the years, he's earned a reputation as someone with deep insight into the game. Burgio's career highlights are numerous. In 1994, he won a World Series of Poker bracelet in Seven Card Stud Split. In 1999, he was inducted into the Poker Seniors Hall of Fame. He made a World Poker Tour final table during Season 1. He placed fifth in the Gold Rush event at Lucky Chances Casino. During his career, Burgio has made more than $1.9 million in live poker tournaments. When he's not playing poker or writing about it, he likes to travel and have lunch with his grandchildren.
