Tournament Details
This week the belle of the poker ball is unassuming San Jose, California, as the 4th edition of the Bay 101 Shooting Star tournament comes to you courtesy of the World Poker Tour. One of the most popular tournaments on the tour, the Bay 101 has a unique feature – the "shooting star bounty." Any player to bust out a shooting star collects $5,000 cash, instantly, as well as a tee-shirt to commemorate the moment. This year, 50 top players were so-dubbed and sprinkled throughout the field of 518 players, putting one at each starting table. Last year, local favorite and poker dealer Danny Nguyen collected the final two bounties – Men "the Master" Nguyen and Gus Hansen – on his way to his first WPT title.
Tune in this week to see if local favorite and former blackjack dealer Ravi Udayakumar – a satellite qualifier – can follow the same script to riches and poker stardom. Or will gifted young pro David Williams, the sole remaining "shooting star," be able to claim the coveted title for himself? Join us and the four remaining contenders, crafty French pro Fabrice Soulier, Los Angeles pro poker commentator Chad Brown, 22 year-old Northern California pro Danny Smith, and 2-time WPT finalist, Nam Le, as they tangle to see who goes home the latest poker millionaire, and claims the next guaranteed $25,000 seat at the WPT Championship.
