Hand #59: Ryan Riess Tanks For 8+ Minutes Before Calling a Bluff From Terry Schumacher

Apr 6, 2017

Ryan Riess

Ryan Riess (pictured) completes the small blind to 50,000, Terry Schumacher reraises from the big blind to 150,000, and Riess calls.

The flop comes Spade QHeart 10Diamond 7, Riess checks, Schumacher bets 210,000, and Riess calls.

The turn card is the Heart 9, Riess checks, Schumacher bets 450,000, and Riess calls.

The river card is the Club K, Riess checks, Schumacher bets 600,000, and Riess tanks for nearly eight minutes before somebody asks for a clock. Riess is visibly conflicted the entire time, and near the end of his final minute, Riess calls.

Schumacher shows Spade 8Diamond 5 for eight high, and Riess turns over Heart KClub Q to win the pot with two pair, kings and queens.

Matt Savage uses this moment to remind everyone that the upcoming Monster WPT Tournament of Champions, which begins tomorrow, uses a 30-second shot clock.

Riess says, “I’m normally very fast.”
