Niall Farrell won the Season XV partypoker World Poker Tour® Caribbean Main Event on Wednesday, topping a field of 323 entries to score his first WPT® title and $335,000 in first-place prize money. Included in Farrell’s prize was a $15,000 seat into the season-ending WPT Tournament of Champions, and that means we’ll be seeing him at Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, FL in April 2017 to close out the season.

With the victory, Farrell moved to over $3.3 million in career live tournament earnings. He also earned 1,000 points in the Hublot WPT Player of the Year race. With 1,050 total points on the season, Farrell was in seventh place at the completion of WPT Caribbean. Ben Zamani sat in first with 2,500 points and a commanding lead.

Farrell won the partypoker-sponsored WPT Caribbean Main Event as a partypoker qualifier.

WPT Caribbean Main Event Final Table

1st:  Niall Farrell – $335,000*
2nd:  Troy Quenneville – $220,000
3rd:  Anthony Augustino – $140,000
4th:  Colin Moffatt – $105,392
5th:  Yiannis Liperis – $80,000
6th:  Stephen Woodhead – $66,000

*First-prize amount includes a $15,000 seat into the season-ending WPT Tournament of Champions.

When the official WPT final table was reached on Wednesday afternoon, Farrell was fifth in chips, but barely ahead of Stephen Woodhead on the leaderboard. Farrell battled his way to a double up through Colin Moffatt on Hand #17 of the final table, and then he busted Woodhead in sixth place shortly thereafter on Hand #24.

On the elimination of Woodhead, Farrell raised from the hijack seat to 105,000. Woodhead reraised all in for 750,000 from the Farrell called with the Club AHeart J to dominate Woodhead’s Heart ADiamond 10. No help came for Woodhead on the Heart 4Club 3Spade 3Diamond 2Spade 8 board, and he was eliminated in sixth place.

On Hand #33, Moffatt doubled back through Farrell to knock the Scot back down the leaderboard, which is where Farrell sat for a bit of time.

Farrell fought, though, and earned a pay jump when Yiannis Liperis went out in fifth place. Farrell then doubled again on Hand #61, this time through Troy Quenneville. After that, things were kicked into high speed.

First, Moffatt went out in fourth place on Hand #64 to Farrell. Then, Farrell took out Anthony Augustino in third on Hand #73, which allowed him to enter heads-up play against Quenneville with a 5-1 advantage.

Heads-up play would only take one hand, though, as Farrell dispatched of his last opponent, Quenneville, on Hand #74 of the final table — a much quicker final table than the one recently witnessed in the WPT Montreal Main Event won by the legendary Mike Sexton.

On the final hand, Farrell moved all in from the button, and Quenneville called for his tournament life holding the Spade KSpade J from the big blind. Farrell held the superior Club ADiamond 5, and the Heart AHeart KSpade 7Diamond QDiamond 6 board delivered Farrell the victory.

Other notable players to cash in the WPT Caribbean Main Event included WPT Champions Club member Keven Stammen (8th), Manig Loeser (20th), Ari Engel (22nd), Ankush Mandavia (27th), and Sam Greenwood (30th).

Next up on the World Poker Tour schedule for Season XV are WPT Prague in Europe and WPT Five Diamond in Las Vegas. The WPT Prague €3,300 Main Event runs Dec. 2-6 at Hotel Grandior in the Czech Republic, and the WPT Five Diamond $10,400 Main Event runs Dec. 5-10 at Bellagio.
