The World Poker Tour is set make a big splash in Maryland upon its return to Maryland Live! this weekend for the $3,500 Main Event that boasts a $1.5 million guarantee.

Following Season XIV’s successful event that attracted 337 entries and saw Aaron Mermelstein (pictured) win his second WPT title to the tune of $250,222, the Season XV event aims to be bigger and better, evidenced in one way by the big $1.5 million guarantee on the Main Event.

The $3,500 Main Event kicks off on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016 with the first of two starting days. Players will begin with 30,000 in tournament chips, and the first 20 levels will be 60 minutes long. After that, levels up until the final table will be 90 minutes long, and then levels will revert back to 60 minutes in length for the final table.

Re-entry will be allowed for the Main Event, with late registration open until the start of Day 2. If a player advances to Day 2 from the first starting flight and opts to play the second, then the larger stack of the two will be carried forward.

Already having wrapped up are the first two events of the WPT Maryland Live! series, the opening $350 event and the $575 pot-limit Omaha second event. The first event attracted 632 entries and was won by Ju Park for $35,831. The second event drew 110 entries and was won by Vincent Moscati for $13,288.

Maryland Live! Casino is located in Hanover, Maryland and is playing host to the World Poker Tour for the second consecutive year.
