Making First WPT Cash, Sergio Castelluccio Wins WPT National Brussels Main Event

Italy’s Sergio Castelluccio topped a field of 489 entries in the WPT® National Brussels €1,200 Main Event to earn a first-place payday of €105,000. The turnout was the largest in the WPT National Brussels Main Event history, and the victory helped push Castelluccio to more than $2 million in live tournament earnings.

Castelluccio defeated Greece’s Dimitrios Kalaroutis in heads-up play to earn the title, with Kalaroutis scoring €73,515 in second-place prize money.

Castelluccio entered the final table of nine fourth in chips, and Kalaroutis started in sixth. The two would make it to heads-up play at a final table that lasted around 10 hours, with Castelluccio finishing off Kalaroutis in 90 minutes.

For Castelluccio, the victory came in his first WPT main event cash, on any of the WPT’s tour, and it proved to be his fifth-largest live tournament score to date, according to his HendonMob.com profile.

Next up for the WPT National tour is WPT National Korea taking place at Paradise Casino at Jeju Grand from March 16-21. The WPT National Korea KRW 1,500,000 Main Event boasts a KRW 200,000,000 guaranteed prize pool and will run March 17-21, 2017.
