Season XVI of the World Poker Tour rolls on with the WPT Borgata Poker Open, running Tuesday, September 5, 2017, through Friday, September 22, at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The full schedule boasts 21 great events, with the biggest bang being the $3,500 buy-in WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship that boasts a $3 million guaranteed prize pool. The WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship starts on Sunday, September 17, and runs through Friday, September 22, featuring two starting flights and concluding with the televised WPT final table.
Last season’s WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship boasted the same $3 million guarantee on the prize pool, but thanks to a turnout of 1,179 entries, the generated prize pool topped a whopping $3.77 million. Of that, $821,811 went to Jesse Sylvia for taking first place in the tournament for his first World Poker Tour title.

$2 Million Guaranteed Opener
Opening the Season XVI WPT Borgata Poker Open festival is the $600 buy-in Borgata Deepstack Kick-Off event, played in no-limit hold’em format with reentry. This event has a booming $2 million guarantee on the prize pool, and the event runs Tuesday, September 5, through Saturday, September 9. From September 5-7, there are six starting flights, with two taking place each day.
Last year, this event attracted 3,869 entries, and it was Noel Martinez scoring $286,384 in first-place prize money for winning the title.
$1 Million Guaranteed Almighty Stack
Another great “big bang for your buck” event on the Season XVI WPT Borgata Poker Open festival schedule is the $400 buy-in Almighty Stack, running Tuesday, September 12, through Saturday, September 16. This poker tournament has five starting flights across September 12-14 and a $1 million guaranteed prize pool.
Steven Madara scooped up the lion’s share of the prize pool in this event last year when he won the tournament for $169,001.
