Starting July 20, 2017, the World Poker Tour takes to Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant, Oklahoma, for the Season XVI WPT Choctaw festival. Highlighted by the televised WPT Choctaw $3,700 Championship that takes place August 4-8 and boasts a $2 million guarantee, the full WPT Choctaw schedule features a whopping 84 events when you include satellites.
In addition to the televised WPT Choctaw $3,700 Championship, big hitters on the Season XVI WPT Choctaw schedule include the big $200,000 Guarantee No-Limit Hold’em event, the ONE MILLION DOLLAR Guarantee Monster Stack, and the $5,300 High Roller.
$200,000 Guarantee No-Limit Hold’em
The $200,000 Guarantee No-Limit Hold’em has a buy-in of $125 and begins July 21. There are two starting flights per day on July 21 and July 22, and 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. local time, and players are allowed reentry through Level 8 of each flight. Each starting flight will play until the end of Level 17 or until approximately six percent of the field remains, whichever comes first.
Day 2 will take place on July 23 and see all advancing players combine to one field to play to a winner.
Last year, this event attracted 3,877 entries and generated a prize pool of more than $350,000. The winner, Long Nguyen, took home nearly $56,000 in first-place prize money.
ONE MILLION DOLLAR Guarantee Monster Stack
The ONE MILLION DOLLAR Guarantee Monster Stack has a buy-in of $350 and six starting flights across July 27-29. On each of those three days, there will be two starting flights per day, at 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. local time. Players are allowed reentry through Level 8 of each flight. Each starting flight will play until the end of Level 17 or until approximately six percent of the field remains, whichever comes first.
Day 2 will take place on July 30 and see all advancing players combine to one field to play to a winner. The event may be extended to July 31 if necessary.
Last year, this event attracted 4,009 entries and generated a prize pool of $1.145 million. The winner, James Williams, scooped up more than $180,000 in prize money. Robert Greeson finished in second place and also earned six figures, pulling in nearly $114,000.
$5,300 High Roller
The WPT Choctaw $5,300 High Roller takes place starting on August 6 and serves as a big buy-in, second-chance tournament to the $3,500 Championship. Players will begin with 15,000 in chips and are allowed players to reenter through Level 8.
