Mikhail Zdanovskiy topped a field of 386 players to win the WPTDeepStacks Jacksonville Main Event on Monday night at bestbet Jacksonville. Zdanovskiy was awarded $106,780 in prize money, a $3,000 Championship package, and the WPTDeepStacks trophy after winning a final table that clocked in at just over five hours.

Coming into the day, the expectations were high as a bunch of seasoned pros headlined the table. There was also an opportunity for history here in Jacksonville as both Michael Mizrachi, and last year’s champion, George Wolfe, were trying to become the first two-time WTPDS Champion. Wolfe’s dreams were cut short when he exited in 9th, and he was followed out the door by Jonathan Hilton in 8th. Coming into the day Michael Mizrachi was certainly the most notable player at the final table, but after a series of unfortunate hands Mizrachi was left wondering what could have been as he exited the tournament area in 7th. Brian Hawkins and Austin Peck hit the rail next in 6th & 5th, leaving us five handed.

Early on in five handed play it appeared as if David Tuthill started to gain momentum, and he was set to double up in a huge spot when he got his AcAh all in pre-flop against the KcKs of his buddy Timothy Miles. The flop was clean, but a king on the turn would end Tuthill’s run in a brutal way. Miles would follow Tuthill out the door, as he finished in third.

Heading into heads up play it was Corey Major who had all the momentum. A huge rail, and a two-to-one chip lead seemed as if it was going to carry Major to the top, but after the first hand it was Mikhail Zdanovskiy who started to gain traction, as he took his turn with a two-to-one chip lead. Zdanovskiy continued to climb before eventually waking up with ace-jack, and getting all the chips in the middle on an ace high board, against Major’s middle pair. The runout was clean and Zdanovskiy was awarded the trophy, $106,780, and the WPTDS trophy!
