Los Angeles, CA (June 17, 2016) – Fourteen Earl Woods Scholars and two chaperones from the Tiger Woods Foundation are headed to China on Sunday for an 11-day, all-expense-paid trip to explore the historical, cultural, and technological wonders of Beijing and Shanghai.
Sponsored by Ourgame, parent company to the World Poker Tour®, the trip will give the scholars an opportunity to shadow their peers at the Beijing Language and Culture University, intern at industry-leading Chinese corporations, including Ourgame, Aimer, and iRena, as well as participate in charitable activities.
The Beijing Language and Culture University, known as a Mini-United Nations, offers Chinese language and culture courses to foreign students in addition to science, finance, and other majors to Chinese students. Aimer, founded in 1993, is one of the leading lingerie brands in China, with industry-leading professional design and production of high-end lingerie. Beijing iRena is China’s leading sports industry platform, providing sponsorship, ticketing, event organization, and VIP services for sporting events across the country.
In addition, the scholars, many of whom have only flown domestically a handful of times, will tour iconic locations such as the Great Wall of China, Forbidden City, and Temple of Heaven. The trip will be well-documented, with a photographer and film crew traveling with the scholars to capture their experiences and preserve them for the rest of their lives.
In 2013, the WPT® and the Tiger Woods Foundation joined forces at Tiger Jam for Tiger’s Poker Night, Presented by the World Poker Tour. In four years, the charity poker tournament has helped Tiger Jam raise millions of dollars to equip underserved students with the ability to exceed any and all expectations.
