The World Poker Tour made its inaugural trip to South America and completed the first-ever WPT Brasil, with Raphael Francisquetti topping the massive field of 3,386 entries to earn the R$781,546 (approx. $250,000) first-place prize.

The WPT Brasil R$1,500 Main Event boasted a guaranteed prize pool of R$2 million, but that guarantee was smashed thanks to the huge turnout of players that helped generate a prize pool of more than R$4.2 million.
One of the players reaching the final table was Faraz Jaka, Season VIII WPT Player of the Year, but his run ultimately came to an end in seventh place to make way for an all-Brazilian final six.
In the end, Francisquetti took on Fernando Akyo Konishi for the WPT Brasil Main Event title. On the final hand, Konishi opened with a raise on the button and then four-bet shoved with the , only to run into the of Francisquetti. The flop, turn, and river came to give Francisquetti the title.
WPT Uruguay Next Up in South America
Next up for the World Poker Tour in South America is a trip to Uruguay at the end of October and beginning of November. The full WPT Uruguay festival runs October 31 through November 5, with the WPT Uruguay $1,500 Main Event taking place November 1-5.
