Alex Manzano Wins Event #02: Omaha Championship for $176,131

Jul 28, 2020

After more than an hour of small pots and back and forth, a hand clash has just taken place and the result is that Paresh Doshi has been eliminated in 2nd place, leaving Alex Manzano the latest WPT Champion!

Rewinding back to the start and it all started with a limp from Manzano with Heart KHeart 9Diamond 3Heart 3 and a check from Doshi, who had Diamond KSpade QSpade 9Club 6 in the hole.

Both players had flopped big with top-two pair versus bottom set. Little did Doshi realise that his opponent also held two of his four potential outs and those were only good enough to give him a chop. Doshi led for 315,000 and Manzano smooth called.

On the Heart 4 turn, the Doshi barrelled 756,000 and Manzano upped it to 3,300,00. The hand looked too good and Doshi put the rest of it in, totalling 8,600,00, which Manzano snap-called.

The Heart Q river locked up the hand and the tournament for Manzano, who walks away $176,131 better off as well as becoming the newest member of the WPT Champion’s club.

Congratulations to him and to Doshi, who banked $167,262 for placing runner up.
