Anthony Spinella

Day 1a of the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown placed an astounding 1,135 entries into the field. That marks the highest entrants of a Day 1A in WPT history. 378 of those players advanced to Sunday’s Day 2, led by Anthony Spinella’s 473,000.

The $3 million guarantee is already accomplished.

“I had 40,000 then I won a big hand with Ace King against Ace Jack suited on an Ace Queen Ten two of his suit.” Spinella says of his late night run. He looks forward to an off day tomorrow at the Seminole Hard Rock property.

Spinella is far from the only player to bag a sizable amount with a day off tomorrow.

Ethan “Rampage” Yao put 451,000 into his bag. “If I’m not the chip leader I punted 3 straight hands with 5 hands left in the day. I ran well today, this never happens to me, I’m glad that I have chips.”

Yao will enjoy his off day as will Brandon Wilson with 411,500, Jeff Madsen with 406,500, and Debbie Lee with 377,000.

The reigning champion Mark Davis also put chips in the bag with 137,000.

Day 1b begins tomorrow at 11 a.m. ET, with registration open until about 9 p.m. with unlimited re-entries.
